For the first time in my life, I finally encountered they much hyped about discriminatory attitude that Singaporean service staff have with regards to locals and the ang mohs.
I went to Forever 21 at Wisma today and when I went to the upstairs dressing room, the sales assistant asked me to go downstairs as there were some angmohs trying upstairs. okaaay, so I went down to the lower floor dressing rooms and the sales staff asked me to go upstairs. Hello, I was really pissed off. Somemore the upstairs sales assistant still snapped rudely," I thought I asked you to go downstairs?" And then she was especially nice to some other ang mohs queuing behind me. What a BITCH. I really should have lodged a formal complaint.
I wasn't that pissed off until she was rude to me.
I guess the events today just reminded me how affected I am by words, no matter how carelessly or unintentionally said. Some words have the capacity to anger, some to hurt and some just more than others. In the same sense that I am affected by these words, I shall remember not to do so unto others.
